Ingenio Sancarlos is one of the leading agro-industrial companies in Valle del Cauca, Colombia. Its operation includes hundreds of pieces of industrial equipment that require constant preventive and corrective maintenance. Before PLASMA, maintenance management depended on paper forms and shared spreadsheets.
The problem
Maintenance orders got lost, inspections were not recorded on time, and efficiency indicators were estimates based on incomplete data. There was no way to verify whether a piece of equipment had actually been inspected or whether a work order had been completed within the estimated time.
The implementation
PLASMA, an independent industrial maintenance product built on Basis Network, was deployed with direct integration into the network. Every maintenance order, equipment inspection and quality certification is recorded simultaneously in the operational database and on the blockchain. Plant staff use PLASMA like any other application; the blockchain is invisible to the end user.
The results
After the implementation, Ingenio Sancarlos reported documented improvements of between 75% and 91% in operational efficiency, depending on the department. Verified savings exceed 300 million Colombian pesos. Every maintenance record now carries an immutable, verifiable timestamp, eliminating disputes over whether work orders were fulfilled.
